The Eastern Cape is currently faced with significant shifts in the industry and has the potential to be a major player in the future global automotive industry. However, several challenges can hinder this growth.
The CSISU exists to address these challenges and foster a thriving automotive sector in the region.
The Component Suppliers and Investor Support Unit (CSISU) fosters a thriving automotive sector in the Eastern Cape. We achieve this by providing a comprehensive suite of services, including:
Component Supplier Development & Competitiveness: We empower automotive suppliers to enhance their capabilities and meet global standards.
Manufacturing Optimization: Our specialised and experienced team tackles inefficiencies through proven methodologies like TPM, QMS (IATF, ISO), Six Sigma, Cleaner Production, and Kaizen.
Industry Investment Support: We actively support investors and develop investment opportunities within the automotive value chain, securing and promoting sustainable economic growth.
Focus Areas
01
Strengthening Local Suppliers
The Eastern Cape requires suppliers to remain competitive. The South African Automotive Masterplan emphasises the focus on transformation and localisation of the automotive value chain. The CSISU bridges this gap by empowering existing suppliers to improve their capabilities and meet the high standards demanded by global automotive manufacturers. The Unit facilitates transformation of the industry by developing emerging suppliers. This creates a robust local supply chain, reducing dependence on external sources and boosting the regional economy.
03
Attracting Investment
02
Boosting Manufacturing Efficiency
The rapid changes in the industry promotes the need to maintain optimised production efficiencies and competitiveness. The CSISU's team of experts can identify these issues and implement proven methodologies like Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Quality Management Systems (QMS) based on IATF 16949 and ISO standards, Six Sigma for defect reduction, and Kaizen for continuous improvement. These practices can significantly enhance production efficiency and product quality, making Eastern Cape manufacturers more competitive.
The Eastern Cape is positioned to benefit from growing investment by responding to critical needs of investors. The CSISU actively responds to investor requirements by providing necessary information, connecting them with potential partners, and highlighting potential investment opportunities within the automotive value chain. This proactive approach can create a more attractive environment for investors, leading to increased investment and job creation.
