Background

The AIDC-EC’s Marketing, Communication and Events Business Unit is tasked with ensuring the automotive sector is informed, engaged, and aligned with the organisation’s initiatives.

This involves providing clear updates, encouraging participation, and tailoring communication to diverse audiences through multi-channel outreach, storytelling, and continuous engagement.

To strengthen future campaigns, the unit must embed feedback mechanisms such as surveys, analytics, event-based input, and stakeholder consultations, enabling evidence-based improvements and real-time monitoring of effectiveness.

Finally, through effective communication, AIDC-EC’s projects and achievements get promoted - building trust with stakeholders and enhance visibility of the automotive sector through an integrated channels approach, consistent messaging, proactive media engagement, strong event promotion, and robust internal communication.

Together, these guiding principles create a strategic framework that ensures AIDC-EC’s work is visible, impactful, and trusted, while sustaining stakeholder participation and positioning the organisation as a thought leader in the automotive industry.

GETTING REGULAR AND USEFUL FEEDBACK 

Marketing campaigns are most effective when they generate insights that inform future improvements. However, campaigns often fall short in producing the feedback necessary to refine strategies and enhance impact.

 

To address this, the Marketing, Communication and Events Business Unit needs to embed feedback mechanisms into every campaign to ensure continuous learning and adaptation.

 

Challenge is to capture stakeholder perspectives, measure campaign effectiveness, identify areas for improvement and be able to implement accordingly, with the necessary swiftness.

EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION

The Marketing, Communication and Events Business Unit ensures that the work of the AIDC-EC is communicated with clarity, consistency, and impact across all stakeholders.

Its core objectives are to showcase projects and achievements, strengthen stakeholder engagement through trust and collaboration, and enhance the visibility of the Eastern Cape automotive sector by highlighting key developments and its contribution to economic growth.

The South African Automotive Masterplan (SAAM2035) and the Eastern Cape Automotive Masterplan 2025–2035 set ambitious targets: increasing local vehicle production, deepening localisation, expanding aftermarket participation, driving transformation, and positioning South Africa as a globally competitive automotive hub.

The AIDC-EC’s Marketing, Communication and Events Business Unit contributes to these goals by ensuring that stakeholders are informed, engaged, and aligned with the organisation’s initiatives.

Clear updates on skills development, supplier localisation, innovation, and investment promotion ensure stakeholders understand how each initiative supports localisation targets, competitiveness, and transformation.
