Aftermarket Support Programme

Background

Despite its importance, the Eastern Cape automotive aftermarket sector faces several challenges that hinder its optimal growth and development.

The Aftermarket Support Programme addresses some of the challenges which are prevalent in the SMME sector and grossly affect the historically disadvantaged SMMEs.

Focus Areas

01

Access to capital

Many SMMEs within the aftermarket sector struggle to secure adequate funding for business expansion, technology adoption, and operational improvements.

03

02

Skills gap

A glaring picture of SMME owners’ business management skills and shortage of skilled and trained technicians capable of handling modern automotive technologies, leading to inefficiencies in service delivery, is evident.

Competition and market reach

The Aftermarket Sector market has been monopolized and excluded the majority of historically disadvantaged SMMEs.  One of the primary challenges faced by SMMEs is competition from well-established players.

04

Technological advancements

The rapid evolution of automotive technologies requires continuous upgrades and investments in diagnostic equipment, tools, and training, which can be financially burdensome for the SMMEs.

Empowering SMME growth

Providing financial support that empowers SMMEs to expand their operations, increase productivity, and meet growing demand.

Enhancing competitiveness

Facilitates access to modern and efficient tools and machinery that enhance SMMEs competitiveness in their respective businesses and the sector.

Job creation

SMMEs are significant contributors to employment creation.

Financial inclusion

Access to finance will enable the Historically Disadvantaged SMMEs to have the needed capital on hand to invest in their growth and development, and bankability.

Multilingual Functionality

  • Partnerships and collaboration. Support towards the Aftermarket SMMEs will lead enabling partnerships between SMMEs, industry bodies, financing institutions, business development institutions, markets, government, and fostering mutually beneficial relationships
