e-Mobility and Climate Mitigation
Background
The E-Mobility and Climate Mitigation Business Unit is a focused unit dedicated to driving the transition to sustainable transportation solutions and mitigating the impacts of climate change.
Our mission is to lead the industry in e-mobility innovation, education, and advocacy, while promoting a culture of sustainability and environmental.
The transportation sector is a major contributor to global greenhouse gas emissions, accounting for roughly 24% of the world's total. Traditional gasoline and diesel vehicles are a primary source of these emissions, driving climate change and its devastating consequences. E-mobility, encompassing electric vehicles (EVs) and related infrastructure, presents a critical solution to this challenge.
In the last 20 years, electric vehicles have experienced significant technological developments that have not only lowered their costs but also reduced their environmental footprint and increased their utility. At the same time, public transport and shared mobility are key ingredients for efficient transportation.
Introducing electric vehicles in fleets is often the first step to overcoming challenges and barriers to electric mobility and is critical to its wider adoption worldwide.
Focus Areas
01
Promotion of Electric Vehicles (EVs)
Encouraging the adoption of electric cars, buses, and bikes to replace traditional fossil fuel-powered vehicles.
02
Infrastructure Development
Building and expanding EV charging stations to support the growing number of electric vehicles.
03
Policy and Regulation
Implementing policies and regulations that incentivize the use of electric vehicles, such as tax benefits, subsidies, and low-emission zones.
04
Public Awareness Campaigns
Educating the public about the benefits of e-mobility and how it contributes to reducing carbon footprints.
05
Research and Development
Investing in R&D to improve battery technology, increase the range of EVs, and reduce costs.
06
Integration with Renewable Energy
Ensuring that the electricity used to charge EVs comes from renewable sources like solar and wind power.
07
Urban Planning
Designing cities to be more EV-friendly with dedicated lanes for electric buses and bikes and integrating e-mobility into public transportation systems.
