The Automotive Industry Development Centre Eastern Cape (AIDC-EC) was established in 2003 to promote and develop the automotive industry in the Eastern Cape Province.
The AIDC-EC offers a range of services and programs to support the development of the automotive industry in the Eastern Cape, including the Automotive Aftermarket service providers. These services include automotive policy advocacy, component supplier competitiveness & development, project management, automotive investment promotion and now support to the aftermarket industry.
The AIDC-EC works closely with various automotive sector players, government agencies, and academic institutions to create a favourable environment for automotive sector in the province and to ensure that the Eastern Cape remains competitive as a key player.
In the 2024 State of the Province Address (SOPA), Premier Oscar Mabuyane announced that the AIDC-EC will implement a programme of identifying and supporting at least 300 historically disadvantaged individual (HDI) SMMEs in the Aftermarket Industry over the next 3 years.
IN THE 2024 STATE OF THE PROVINCE ADDRESS (SOPA), PREMIER OSCAR MABUYANE ANNOUNCED THAT THE AIDC-EC WILL IMPLEMENT A PROGRAMME OF IDENTIFYING AND SUPPORTING AT LEAST 300 HISTORICALLY DISADVANTAGED INDIVIDUAL (HDI) SMMES IN THE AFTERMARKET INDUSTRY OVER THE NEXT 3 YEARS
These SMMEs include, but are not limited to:
Automotive maintenance services.
Automotive mechanical repair services.
Automotive panel beating services.
Automotive electrical services.
Towing services.
Tyre Services.
For the year 2024/25 the AIDC-EC is targeting to support at least 100 SMMEs in the Eastern Cape who are operating in the aftermarket industry who meet the expression of interest requirements detailed below.
Qualifying SMMEs will participate in a needs analysis to ascertain eligibility to access opportunities in training & capacity building, access financial support as well as access to markets. This is the 5th call for expression of interest in the AIDC-EC Aftermarket Programme.

CIPC Company registration certificate.
Director/ SMME owner certified South African Citizen,
A certified copy of Identity Document not older than 3 months.
Director/ SMME owner must be a South African Citizen as described in section 2, 3, 4, & 5 of the South African Citizenship Act number 88 of 1995.
Proof of trading address.
Recent proof of SARS tax registration, and
Current financial statements for the business being registered.
B-BBEE certificate.
Proof of Business operations for a minimum of 2 years or more.
Please note: Only verified SMMEs who complied with the above, will be considered for the programme. Registering the business does not automatically qualify the SMME to be part of the AIDC-EC SMME Aftermarket verified database.
All registrations must be done using the online application form, no later than 10 September 2024. All required documents must be submitted by the closing date and time failing
which the application will not be considered.
