Generate Your Business Idea and Start Your Business training programme

Generate Your Business Idea (GYB) is a training programme for people who want to start a business but are not sure of the business idea to pursue. It assists potential entrepreneurs to identify different business ideas, to analyse them and select the most promising one. GYB complements ILO’s Start Your Business (SYB) training programme as a potential entrepreneur needs to have a clear idea of the business they propose to start.

This package covers the following topics.

• Are you ready to be an entrepreneur?

• What makes a business Idea?

• How to create your business idea list?

• Which business idea is best to pursue?

Start Your Business (SYB) is a training programme for potential entrepreneurs who have a feasible business idea for their own small enterprise. The training helps in developing a detailed business plan and to actually get started. The training also provides an opportunity to test the required entrepreneurial skills and the business plan in a simulated and safe environment.

This package covers the following topics.

• Business plan – Introduction

• Reinforce your business idea

• Marketing plan

• Review the marketing plan

• Staffing

• Organisation and management

• Buying for your business

• Costing your goods and services

• Financial planning

• Review the costing and the financial plan

• Start-up capital

• Finalise your business plan

Suitable aspiring entrepreneurs who can apply for this programme include, but are not limited to:

• School leavers

• Tertiary institutions

• Current entrepreneurs wanting to start new businesses

• Retrenched employees wanting to start a business

• Unemployed youth

The training will be delivered over a 5 day programme
